AAPG Mid-Continent Section Field Conference

Our subsurface team spent three days in the field with AAPG and Oklahoma State University at the 7th Biennial Mid-Continent Section Field Conference (Oct 2–4), studying outcrops of the Arbuckle-Simpson system and how aquifers and petroleum reservoirs connect along the Seminole-Cushing Ridge. What we saw in the rock feeds directly into Hulen’s Oswego, Woodford and Arbuckle redevelopment work.

Revisiting a Legacy Well: The Lewis 1-7 Re-entry

The Lewis 1-7, near Luther, Oklahoma, presented an opportunity to revisit an existing vertical wellbore and evaluate previously undeveloped reservoir potential. Rather than drilling a new well from surface, Hulen re-entered the existing wellbore in August 2026 to pursue additional subsurface opportunities. As of October 2026, the well is awaiting completion operations targeting the Woodford and Misener intervals.

On Feb 25, Randy P. Pruitt represented Hulen on the Session 4 panel “Producers’ Perspective on Managing Legacy Assets” at AAPG’s Opportunity in Legacy Assets: Orphan, Abandoned, Idle, and Marginal Wells workshop in Tulsa (Feb 25–26, 2026), highlighting the value left in mature fields, from uphole bypassed pay to horizontal redevelopment. Hulen is now helping plan the 2027 workshop.
